Canva-Based Digital Design Training to Boost Students’ Creativity
Keywords:

The low level of digital design skills and the suboptimal use of technology-based creative media among students formed the backdrop to the implementation of this community service initiative. This programme aims to enhance students’ digital design skills and technological literacy through training in the use of the Canva application at Primaganda High School. The activity was implemented using a participatory training approach, which included initial observation, delivery of materials, a demonstration of Canva usage, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation of participants’ work. The activity was attended by 16 students from Year 11 at Primaganda High School, who participated actively throughout the training process. The results of the activity showed that the students were able to understand the use of Canva’s features, create digital poster designs independently, and enhance their creativity and visual communication skills. Furthermore, hands-on training proved effective in helping students understand the material in a more practical and interactive manner. This activity has positive implications for strengthening digital literacy and developing 21st-century skills within the school environment, and can therefore serve as an alternative programme for developing students’ digital competencies based on creative technology
